Storied producer Patrick Chardronnet helms the latest release on Lucidflow with a diverse array of tracks backed by a Klartraum remix. Patrick barely needs an introduction but, for those catching up, his appearances include Bedrock Records, Connaisseur Recordings, Crosstown Rebels and Poker Flat. In essence, it is quite the résumé. 

Relishing the chance to flex some dub muscles across three tracks, ‘Dub Of Aces’ (lyrics: Aero Manyelo) offers something for everyone. The title track itself is a low key house track, taking things into smoked out territories by having the tempo of its elements. ‘Traces’ is a main room agitating piece of techno, rolling in like a distant storm before taking absolute command with machine driven precision. Then we are taken home with the downtempo ‘Miqio’, exercising some choice lofi analogue percussion before smothing the track in layers of resonance and hypnotism. 

Nadja Lind and Helmut Ebritch then step up and demonstrate their many years of production nous on their rework of ‘Dub Of Aces’. Returning the favour for Patrick’s remix of ‘Grinsekatze’ from their 2018 album ‘Void Universes’ their touch on ‘Dub Of Aces’ is deft, bringing the half time elements up to speed, but introducing percussion that is deliciously human in delivery, with every micro-fraction away from the quantized beat is a delicious morsel for the soul.
